Description
REVOLVER. Cal. 45 S&W. S# 6636. Over 5900 second model Schofield revolvers were produced for the US Army from 1876-77. It features a 7" bbl with notched rib, pinned blade front sight, & standard 2-line patent & address markings on the left and 1-line patent markings on the right. 2nd Model latch configuration. The barrel, cylinder, & frame all carry both "W" & "P" inspection proofs. The cylinder SN has been double stuck, but matches the SN on the butt. The butt is "US" marked and the number "29" is found on the top of the rear grip strap. The left grip is "1877" dated with oval "DAL" inspector cartouche. The right grip is has a clear cartouche ring with the cartouche only partially visible due to a series of impressions in the grip. CONDITION: overall very good as early arsenal refinished. The blued components have 80% of the early reapplied thinning finish remaining with some muzzle and edge wear. Crisp markings. The stocks have nice clear cartouches with the exception of the right grip as noted above. Nice bore with light rifling wear. (01-29116/ZAL). ANTIQUE. $3,000-4,000.
