1845 DATED AMES USN M1841 NAVAL CUTLASS.

Description

Overall length: 26.75". Dbl. edged 21" blade. Ricassos stamped "U.S.N 1845 R" & "N P AMES SPRINGFIELD". Solid brass hilt with an eagle-decorated pommel. Three iron rivets secure the hilt to the tang. The guard has numerous stampings and rack marks. CONDITION: blade shows area of pitting & dark patina. Hilt shows worn out eagle & numerous sm. marks. PROVENANCE: Estate Collection of Nicholas Apergis. (02-24664/MD). NON-GUN. $600-900.
