Description
1777 FLINTLOCK MUSKET. Cal. 69. This example is a well made copy of a P1777 Charleville with Ottoman Tughras on the lock, bbl, side plate and numerous small parts. The Ottomans were known to manufacture muskets of this pattern from their factories in Dolambahce & Zeytinburnu during the Selim III through the Abdulmejid reigns. Many of these guns were converted to percussion by the Ottomans around 1853. This example is in its original condition with 42" round bbl held by 3 spring fastened bbl bands. Iron furniture. Unmarked stock. CONDITION: Overall very good. The metal surfaces have received a light cleaning with some light mottled oxidation patches. Nice crisp markings. Supple leather sling.
