Description
Late composite British small sword with 29.5" tapered lenticular blade with an engraving that is far more modern than the "1514" that is found on each side. The engraving features a globus cruciger, running lion or griffin, and leafed scroll. Heavy cavalry officers 1796 pattern hilt with heart shaped counter guard, stylized straight quillon and knuckle bow. Beaded grooved oval pommel. Walnut grip base missing wrap. CONDITION: Overall fair assembled with some mottling on the blade and some minor chips in the grip. PROVENANCE: Estate Collection of Nicholas Apergis (02-24783/ZAL) $600-900
