A Third Reich-era Silesian Eagle badge, First Class, approx. 1.75 x 1.25 in., awarded to members of the Freikorps Oberland paramilitary group, as well as those who fought in the Silesian Uprisings of 1919-21. The tombak badge depicts a black-enameled eagle with silvered details, with a silvered crescent at its chest and a banner reading ‘Fur Schlesien’ (‘For Silesia’) across its talons. The badge is vaulted, with a vertical clasp with sheet metal hinge and round wire catch, and is unmarked. This example, like the majority of these decorations, is likely privately-purchased. Shows minor tarnish to the silvered details, with minor wear to the reverse, otherwise in very good condition overall.
