This large iconic German battle flag (Kriegflagge) was originally 131 in. x 78 in. overall, but now trimmed. The two-sided flag with 'Eagle M' marking at the top of the hoist, is constructed of printed wool linen with reinforced corners. A vet bring back, it has unfortunately been ripped into two pieces vertically down the center, and is missing a 4 inch strip, hindering reattachment or restoration: possibly the victim of retribution by the capturing forces. The canvas hoist sewn to the flag is stamped: 'Kr. Fl. 200 x 335' (6.5 ft. x 11 ft.) at top of hoist, with the maker name ‘Fahnen Hoffmann K.G. Berlin’ stamped at bottom with the hoist rope having been removed. Authentic damaged war relic.
