(1837 - 1917) American Admiral of the Navy, the only person in U.S. history to attain the rank. Served under Farragut in the Civil War but known for his famous success at the Battle of Manila Bay during the Spanish American War, achieving victory with only a single casualty. George Dewey Sep. 23d/04' A bit toned, double matted with a photograph of the admiral in uniform and a brass descriptive plaque.
