(1926 – 2016) Cuban revolutionary who led the guerilla campaign against Batista, overthrowing the dictator and replacing him with the first communist government in the Western Hemisphere. Iconic ca. 1972 original signed photograph, 15 x 10.75 in. color, a terrific image of Castro being interviewed and recorded by two other men at a large wooden table. There is much to be read into this image: Castro's right index finger is planted upon the table as he makes a point, looking directly at the interviewer, while at the same time his left index finger pulls forward the rank insignia on the right epaulet, clearly indicating the importance of his rank! An intimidating image to say the least, boldly signed with a period black ink signature at lower-right. Two or three trivial marginal creases else fine.
