(1919-2010) American conceptual artist, known particularly for his works of space art. McCall contributed murals to the National Air and Space Museum and the Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center, as well as designing the mission patches for the Apollo 17 moon mission. Exceptional original signed limited edition lithograph, 22 x 32 in., an artist's proof of his work 'Splashdown' depicting an Apollo mission capsule seconds after its ocean landing and with three parachutes wafting in the breeze above it. Signed at lower right. Fine. This print was part of an edition of five prints offered in 1973 and titled 'The Apollo Story' issued by the Tamarind Institute and published by Art Consultants, Ltd. in Phoenix. This print is offered with the portfolio's similarly sized title page and descriptive sheets. Fine.
