Sherwood Spring autographed flight-flown cover documenting carriage aboard NASA 904 (T-38). The cover is completed in manuscript with the flight details, including travel from Houston, Texas to Ontario, California, May 1, 1982 flight date, altitude of 39,000 feet, Mach 0.94, purpose “Support Shuttle Launch III,” and the remark “C.P. Dr. W. Thornton.” Spring has signed in black ink.

Sherwood C. Spring (born 1944) is a retired U.S. Army colonel, helicopter pilot, and former NASA astronaut. Selected by NASA in 1980, he flew aboard STS-61B in 1985, logging more than 165 hours in space. During the mission he performed two spacewalks totaling over 12 hours to evaluate construction techniques and equipment for future space structures. Before joining NASA, Spring served as an Army aviator in Vietnam and later as a research and test pilot, accumulating extensive experience in rotary- and fixed-wing aircraft.
