McCall has boldly signed the cover in pencil across the lower margin and enhanced it with an original hand-drawn pencil sketch depicting a rising sun over the lunar horizon, creating a unique presentation by one of America’s most celebrated space artists.

Robert McCall (1919-2010) was an American artist best known for his monumental paintings celebrating the history and future of space exploration. A longtime collaborator with NASA, McCall documented the Mercury, Gemini, Apollo, and Space Shuttle programs through his distinctive artwork. His commissions include the celebrated The Space Mural – A Cosmic View at the Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum, and he also contributed conceptual artwork to Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey. His work helped define the visual identity of the American space age.
