Frank Borman autographed first day cover commemorating the issuance of the Apollo 8 postage stamp. Postmarked in Houston, Texas, on May 5, 1969, the official first day of issue, the cover features the “Saluting Apollo 8 - U.S. First Manned Lunar Orbital Flight” cachet depicting the Apollo 8 crew and has been signed by Borman in black ink across the lower center.

Frank Borman (1928-2023) was a U.S. Air Force officer, test pilot, and NASA astronaut who commanded Apollo 8, the first crewed mission to leave Earth orbit and travel to the Moon. Along with James A. Lovell Jr. and William A. Anders, Borman became one of the first humans to orbit the Moon during the historic December 1968 mission. Apollo 8’s famous Christmas Eve broadcast, including the crew’s reading from the Book of Genesis, was watched and heard by millions around the world and marked a defining achievement of the Apollo program.
