Fred Bock autographed Japanese Government-issued 50 Centavos occupation currency note. Printed for circulation in the Japanese-occupied Philippines during World War II, the note has been signed by Bock in pencil across the lower right of the face. The reverse displays the ornate engraved design characteristic of the series.

Frederick C. Bock (1918-2000) served as aircraft commander of the Boeing B-29 Bockscar with the 393rd Bombardment Squadron, 509th Composite Group. During the atomic mission against Nagasaki on August 9, 1945, Bock commanded The Great Artiste, while his assigned aircraft, Bockscar, was flown by Major Charles W. Sweeney because it had been specially configured to carry the atomic bomb. Bock and his crew flew as part of the strike force, collecting blast and scientific data during the mission. He remained in the U.S. Air Force after the war and retired with the rank of colonel.
