A SET OF FOUR QUEEN ANNE STYLE ETCHED AND BRASS MOUNTED MIRROR SCONCES

The shaped back-plates with cut decoration, each fitted with two scrolled candle branches hung with facetted glass drops, cracked, later fitted for electricity, three plates cracked

A pair of related mirror sconces was in the important collection of Irwin Untermyer, gifted in 1964 to the Metropolitan Museum of Art and subsequently sold Christie's, New York, 27 October 2015, lot 167 ($10,625 including premium). One girandole in good condition, three with cracked mirrors
Of the latter, one has a single crack to the bottom, running through the base of the brass sconce, the second has two small cracks to the bottom, running through the sconce base, the third has at least four cracks to the plate, one across the upper part of the plate
All with foxing and blackening to the silvering, notably around the edges of the plates
All the brass sconces intact, at least 19 glass drops missing
