THREE SMALL SATSUMA VASES Meiji era (1868-1912), late 19th/early 20th century Each decorated in polychrome enamels and gilt on creamy crackled glaze, comprising a pair of cylindrical vases each with two lobed panels with the frames in shallow relief, on both vases one panel with women and children in colorful kimono by a lake with flowers, the other with men and women in court dress under a maple tree, the areas between the panels decorated in colorful floral and water-themed motifs; the third vase in teardrop-form with a raised circular base with partially incised foot, a pair of small loop handles above the shoulder, the body decorated in two panels, one depicting a man, woman, and child in court dress among flowers, the other with women and children in kimono also among flowers, the neck and areas between the panels on the body decorated with two distinct floral motifs, the neck with a flared variegated rim, the foot red with a gold arabesque pattern; each signed Kōzan in gold on the interior of the foot. 5 1/4in (13.3cm); 5 1/4in (13.3cm); 4in (10.2cm) high (3).
