Offered here is the 1953 Topps Roy Campanella card (#27). This issue is significant due to its hand-painted artwork and its placement early in Topps' sophomore 274-card baseball production. Roy Campanella played 10 seasons as a catcher for the Brooklyn Dodgers, winning three National League MVP awards (1951, 1953, 1955) and helping lead the team to a World Series title in 1955.
