This issue is significant as a rare, high-number series release and represents Paige's final contemporary appearance on a mainstream Topps card during his playing days. Satchel Paige was a legendary Negro Leagues pitcher who debuted in Major League Baseball at age 42, winning a World Series with Cleveland in 1948 and becoming a two-time MLB All-Star.
