This issue is significant as a key entry in Gum Inc.'s final pre-war baseball set, which introduced full-color artwork to the Play Ball series. Ted Williams played 19 seasons with the Boston Red Sox, winning two Triple Crowns and two American League MVPs, and remains the last Major League player to bat over .400 in a single season (.406 in 1941).
