A founding member of the Blue Rider (Der Blaue Reiter) group along with her former teacher and lover Wassily Kandinsky, she married expressive use of color with pared-down forms, in both landscapes and portraits. Though exhibition of her work was banned under National Socialism in Germany, Münther continued to create art until her death in 1962.
