Manufactured 1944 by Mauserwerke in Oberndorf using the "byf" 44 code in the stacked date fashion. Blue finished with Eagle WaA135 inspections. Black plastic grips with horizontal grooves. 8 round blue finished "jvd" marked magazine. All matching numbers (5374a) observed including locking block. All primary parts inspected WaA135 with exception of sear marked Eagle 359. The P.38 was the one of the finest designs ever adopted by any military is still emulated with its decocking safety, locking block barrel system, and its internal firing pin safety block. CONDITION: Exceptionally fine as post-War arsenal refinished with all markings remaining crisp and legible. Bore is good with some light oxidation and darkness in grooves. The grips are excellent and without distress. The action operates properly and locks solidly. A very fine example of the Mauser byf code P38 pistol.
