The frame is richly ornamented with scrolling acanthus foliage, pierced rocaille decoration and an elaborate foliate crest. The carving extends around the frame with flowing C-scrolls and openwork elements, giving the piece a light and sculptural quality. The oval mirror plate is enclosed within a moulded gilt slip. The surface retains softly worn gilding over gesso, producing a warm tone and pleasing decorative character. Florentine work, dating to the mid to late 20th century. A striking wall mirror with good scale and presence, suitable for both traditional and contemporary interiors.
