Mughal Carpet India c. 17th century, muted colors, the weave is coarser than usual and more akin to an Agra. Very old natural dyes including a cobalt blue, light purple, a lac maroon, and a honey butter yellow. Generous modeling of the flowers and tertiary elements provide a grand and spacious field design. The palette is slightly more muted than typical Indo-Isfahan rugs and has some similar aesthetic characteristics to 'Polonaise' carpets. The back is very dry and old and shows vibrant old colors.
