A Fine Federal Mahogany, Flame Birch, and Poplar Work Table with Writing Drawer John Young and Thomas Emmons, Jr., Boston, Massachusetts, 1810 Shaped top centering a stunning crotch mahogany veneer surface, the corners rounded to conform with quarter-engaged stiles of the slender reeded and tapered legs on small casters, the two-drawer case embellished with flame birch panels in crossbanded and string-inlaid borders, the drawers of mahogany and poplar construction containing a ratcheted writing surface and divided compartments, a locking workbag frame accessed from left side, and retains the locking side-hung mahogany frame for a work bag, drawer pulls replaced, pencil inscription on case interior appears to read 'AD 1810 Young + Emmons', 53cm wide, 43cm deep, 73cm high (21in wide, 17 1/2in deep, 29in high).
