AN 1809 INDIA PATTERN MUSKET. 39 1/4 in., .76 caliber barrel with ring decoration at the breech and Tower ordnance proof marks on the left side; convex lock plate with double line border engraving, the pointed tail stamped 'TOWER' and with a stamped crown over 'GR' and crowned broad arrow below the pan; walnut stock, the butt with 1809 dated storekeeper's mark, broad arrow over 'BO' mark, carved 'IX B', the bottom of the stock stamped 'EGG' and inspector marks below the trigger guard, on the left side and in the rammer channel; brass furniture of proper form for the pattern, later steel rammer, sling swivels. Overall lg. 55 1/4 in. Condition: Barrel toned to brown and missing the bayonet lug; lock toned to mottled brown; stock has stains and small crack at the rear of the lock mortice; missing side plate and middle rammer pipe; lock functions properly.
