A SPRINGFIELD U.S. MODEL 1795 TYPE I MUSKET, 1803. 41 1/4 in., .73 in. barrel marked on the left side of the breech 'P', eagle's head 'V'; flat lock plate with pointed tail marked 'SPRINGFIELD' in a horizontal arc and with a spread wing eagle over 'US' below the pan; walnut stock; iron furniture of proper form, the butt plate marked '1813', steel rammer with button head and threaded end. Overall lg. 56 1/4 in. Condition: Iron toned to mottled gray/brown with scattered very light pitting; stock has minor dings, dents and scratches; lock functions properly.
