A SPRINGFIELD U.S. MODEL 1795 TYPE III MUSKET, 1813. 44 3/4 in., .72 caliber barrel marked on the left side of the breech 'P', eagle's head, 'V' and with 'US' on the top; flat lock plate with pointed tail marked '1813' and with 'US' and just a trace of the spread wing eagle and 'SPRINGFIELD' below the pan; walnut stock with no visible cartouche; iron furniture including butt plate marked '1813', trigger guard with blunt finials, slide plate and barrel bands; later steel rammer with button head. Overall lg. 59 1/2 in. Condition: Iron cleaned bright but with areas of light pitting; stock has scattered dings and dents; lock functions properly.
