GIBBES/COLUMBIA. S.C.', the muzzle with German silver sight; flat, undecorated lock plate marked 'J.J. MACKEY' below the bolster; walnut half stock with checkered wrist and carved cheekpiece; German silver furniture including butt plate, scroll inlay on the cheekpiece patch box, side plate, trigger guard, barrel key escutcheons and nose cap; wood rammer held by two iron rammer pipes on the under-barrel rib. Overall lg. 52 1/4 in. Condition: Barrel is mostly toned to gray/brown with some bluing present at the breech; lock is toned to mottled gray, hammer spur appears to be repaired/restored; stock appears to have been refinished; furniture is mostly clean; action functions properly.
