A U.S. HORSTMANN & SONS SWORD BAYONET AND SCABBARD, W.H. Horstmann & Sons, Philadelphia, c. 1835. Smooth brass handle with offset socket, straight single-edge blade with false edge at the tip and single wide fuller, the ricasso marked 'HORSTMANN/& SONS' on one side and 'PHILADELPHIA' on the other; black leather scabbard with brass mount. Blade lg. 20 7/8, overall lg. 27 1/4 in. Condition: Brass toned to deep yellow; blade toned mostly to dark gray; scabbard surface is worn, brass throat toned to deep yellow and with a few shallow dents, tip is missing.
