Description
This early dagger was manufactured by Boker which was one of the recognized and authorized cutlery firms in Solingen, Germany permitted to produce official edged weapons for the SS during the Third Reich. This early SS Dagger features a high quality nickel-silver, crossguard, a dark black wood grip inlaid with an SS runic roundel and national eagle. Accompanied with its anodized metal scabbard. These early SS 1933 Daggers are very rare and make a great addition to any German Military collection, no matter the condition. The nickel-silver hilt shows normal wear and the lower crossguard reverse side is marked with an “I” for Munich. The black grip has a chip down near the hilt, to the left of the roundel. The roundel appears to have been replaced. The zinc eagle is properly inset. The blade motto “Meine Ehre heißt Treue” ("My Honor is Loyalty") is still very present and legible. The blade has little to no chips and the tip remains intact. Overall shows some very minor pitting and evidence of cleaning. Crossgrain can still be observed ever so slightly in some areas. Maker mark is crisp and legible. The scabbard is good with one tiny impression on the reverse lower side. The scabbard fittings show normal dings/wear/age, the finish on the scabbard has surface rust and darkened patina but overall no dents. The ball on the lower fitting is partly flattened which is something common seen on SS daggers. Scabbard Fitting at entrance is missing one screw, the other 3 are present. Overall this is a very good & original battle aged example for someone looking to add one to their collection and not pay near mint pricing.
