ISIS BANNER - 2017 US TASK FORCE 9 CAPTURED
US Forces captured ISIS banner. Captured and brought back in 2017 by the Consignor. He was a member of the 2nd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment. At the time the banner was captured, he was attached to Task Force 9, a joint unit composed of Rangers, Delta Force, and SEAL Team 6. The banner was captured at the Al-Aswad Stadium in Ar Raqqa, Syria on October 17, 2017. It bears 5.56 and 7.62 caliber bullet holes from some of the final engagements with ISIS fighters. October 17, 2017 (the capture date), is significant in that it is the day US forces & US backed forces defeated ISIS in Raqqa, which was considered the capital of its caliphate. Single sided banner. Accompanied by signed & notarized Statement of Fact / Provenance from the Consignor. Image attached to the lot was taken at the time the banner was captured and shows the consignor and his squad leader holding it outside the stadium.
