A first unit clapperboard from the production of Lewis Teague’s horror film Cujo. Based on the novel by Stephen King, the film follows a once-friendly St. Bernard that becomes a terrifying threat after contracting rabies, and remains one of the most memorable screen adaptations of King’s work.

The top wooden stick is connected to the slate by a metal hinge and screws. Original production tape remains adhered to the board, including a strip in the date section inscribed in black marker “12-13-82”. While the standard slate fields are printed directly onto the board, the permanently completed sections, including the title, camera type, and the names of the director and director of photography, Jan de Bont, are represented by stickers securely affixed to the surface. Traces of chalk remain visible in the Scene and Take sections, with “80” and “4” respectively discernible.

The reverse bears three strips of tape, respectively inscribed in turquoise marker: “M.O.S.,” “48 F.P.S.,” and “WILD.”

The clapperboard exhibits rust and wear throughout, consistent with age and production use, including a water stain on the lower portion of the slate. Dimensions: 11.12” x 9.25” x 1.25” (28.25 cm x 23.5 cm x 3 cm)
