A hand-marked, bound script from the production of W. S. Van Dyke's The Thin Man. The Thin Man was nominated for four Academy Awards upon release, including for Albert Hackett and Frances Goodrich's screenplay adapted from renowned mystery novelist Dashiell Hammett. The mystery comedy spawned five popular sequels and is today recognized among the greatest films ever made, having been named by the Library of Congress to the National Film for its historic significance in American culture.
This rare, surviving 132-page script originates from renowned Hollywood assistant director Marty Eli Schwartz, who worked with production company Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM) on two The Pink Panther reboots. It is bound with brass brads, hand-marked "7x" on its cover, and labeled "Script okayed by Mr. Stromberg March 19, 1934," referring to legendary film producer Hunt Stromberg. The script shows evidence of wear, including minor staining and discoloration to the paper, consistent with handling and age. Dimensions: 11" x 8.5" x 1" (28 cm x 21.75 cm x 2.5 cm)
Estimate: $2,000 - 4,000
