Dolce Relievo cameo glass is a technique developed by John Northwood for the Stevens and Williams glassworks in 1884, which uses acid etching to create delicate, layered shading on cameo glass vases and other decorative items. This technique, named for its "sweet relief" effect, was a hallmark of late 19th-century British cameo glass.
