Erni Hasinger was an accomplished graphic artist. Her specialties included original alugraphy—a planographic printing process using aluminum plates that is akin to lithography—which earned her a distinctive position within the realm of printmaking in the "Rosenheim Modern" movement. In this medium, she frequently employed the demanding scraping technique based on mezzotint principles to create profound, atmospheric contrasts of light and dark, lending a rich, poetic mood to her cityscapes and nocturnes. Rosenheim, in Upper Bavaria, was the focal point of both her life and her art; there, she maintained her own studio and—as part of Bavarian cultural history—emerged as an active, regionally renowned artist, particularly during the 1960s and 1970s. In addition to independent prints, she created book illustrations that further refined her graphic sensibility and her subtle handling of light and shadow.
