A Lieutenant-Colonel, Charles Macleod is recorded as killed in action at the Siege and ensuing battle of Badajoz (Spain) in 1812

With wear, marks, knocks and scratches commensurate with age and use
Some old chips, splits, and losses, particularly to the top
The metal elements are lifting in in places
Handles appear to be original, locks have been removed
Sign of historic worm
Later piece of wood has been added to the bottom
