At the heart of the ring is an exceptional 17.05 carat Burmese star ruby, noted for its saturated, royal red hue and a sharply defined six ray star with engaging reactivity. A further aesthetic with this gem is the contrast between its finely domed, polished face and its untouched, natural skin on the reverse.

The inside of the shank is marked for platinum and with an unidentifiable maker's mark. There is evidence of prior resizing on this band in three areas.
