Nellie Jameson Washington Mono Lake Paiute (Kuzedika), (1903-c.1930s), the polychrome degikup form basket covered with complementary triangle-tipped zigzag bands in contrasting colors, similar cruciform devices as accents. diameter 13 1/2in, height 7 3/4in Footnotes: Original Ella Cain tag reads: 'No 9D - Paiute Indian Grass Root Basket, made by Nellie Jameson. Design means 'Steep mountain peaks with valleys between.' Took Second Prize at June Lake Field Day - 1927'. An additional notation reads: '9D Nellie Johnson Jameson (?) Mono Lake around 1929. I call this beautiful basket the 'H' basket because I am Helen'; this latter comment apparently written by Ella Cain's daughter Helen. Provenance Ella M.
