Seth Thomas, Thomaston, Connecticut, American ogee shelf clock, circa 1870–1890. Figured wood-veneered case with deeply molded ogee front surrounding a hinged glazed door, the upper section revealing a painted metal dial with Roman numerals and pierced center exposing portions of the brass movement.Lower door panel fitted with a period decorated glass tablet depicting two figures carrying bundles of wood through a wooded landscape with a distant village. Interior retains a large printed manufacturer's paper label reading “SETH THOMAS, THOMASTON, Conn., U.S.A. — WARRANTED GOOD,” together with printed operating instructions.Weight-driven mechanical movement with pendulum; weights visible within the case and key included.
