Rutherford Hayes Pardons a Bootlegger
DS
Rutherford B. Hayes document signed as president. 1p, 8” x 10”; Washington; March 3, 1879. A document directing the “Secretary of State to cause the Seal of the United States to be affixed to a warrant for the pardon of John Victor Nyberg.” Signed, “R B Hayes.” With flattened folds and light age-toning. Filing docket in pencil and adhesive residue to verso of integral blank. Start of Hayes’ signature is light, but remains visible.
