Charles Vyse's The Falconer depicts a falconer on a donkey. The male figure is modeled in classical-inspired attire, featuring a yellow tunic and green sash with laced sandals, holding a spotted hawk on his gloved left hand. Harvested mallard ducks are draped across each side of the saddle. The grey donkey is detailed with a decorative harness in shades of pink, yellow, and green. The scene is set on a naturalistic ceramic base modeled with foliage and brightly colored mushrooms, mounted to an octagonal black ebonized wooden plinth. Incised C. Vyse Chelsea on the lower back of the base.
