Anna Molka Ahmed encouraged her students to explore all available artist materials: oil paints, watercolour, gouache, pen and ink, and pastels. She set an example with her own ability to work with assurance in all these mediums. This work is a pastel on paper and is a stylized image of a village woman carrying a customary bundle on her head with a child suckling at her breast. With a minimum of strokes in monochrome, the artist evokes the charm of the rural female. It is a good example of her confident handling of both medium and message.
