Footnotes: Provenance Property from a private collection, USA; Acquired from the artist. Rajopadhyay is a Nepalese painter whose practice reflects a decisive shift from representation to abstraction. He received his BFA from the Central Department of Fine Arts at Tribhuvan University, Kirtipur, in 1994. A student of Lain Singh Bangdel, Rajopadhyay absorbed the modernist emphasis on expressive colour and abstraction, an influence that remains visible throughout his work. He began his career painting landscapes, mountains and trees rendered with careful observation, but gradually felt constrained by representational limits. This led him to embrace abstraction, the mode he continues to find most compelling and liberating. Untitled (Abstract) exemplifies this mature direction, an eruption of colour dominated by vibrant yellows, punctuated by fiery reds and deep blacks. The composition is dynamic and immersive, with colour acting as both structure and emotion, demonstrating both Bangdel's legacy and Rajopadhyay's own expressive intensity.
