Adnan is a visual artist based between Washington, D.C. and Lahore, where he teaches drawing and design at the National College of Arts (NCA). He holds a degree in Visual Communication Design from NCA and a Master's in Art and Design Studies from the Mariam Dawood School of Visual Arts and Design at Beaconhouse National University. Adnan's practice is rooted in the archaeology and cultural memory of his historic hometown, Tulamba, whose history dates to the 2nd century B.C. His early fascination with collecting fragments, coins and terracotta toys from its ruins developed into an artistic practice centred on drawing, photography, mapping and on-site documentation. He explores the patterns, structures and traces embedded within the ancient landscape, using his own movements and experiences as tools for recording and reconstructing its histories. Alongside teaching, Adnan has undertaken numerous workshops, residencies and grants, and has exhibited widely in Pakistan and internationally, including at the Asian Art Biennale in Bangladesh and the Festival of Print in Brighton, as well as in New York, Edinburgh, Dubai, Milan and Beijing. He was shortlisted for the TAF London Art Award-South Asia 2023 and nominated for the Jameel Prize 6 and the Sovereign Asian Art Prize.
