Title: G.B. - Ship Letters - Lynn / Norfolk 1837 (Aug 11) Description: Letter bearing proof strikes of all the handstamps held by the Post Office at Kings Lynn in 1837 including "LYNN / SHIP LETTER", "Too Late", "MISSENT TO / LYNN", "Lynn / Penny Post" and the distinctive "MORE / TO / PAY" as well as the Lynn datestamp.  A remarkable item, the only recorded example of this ship letter handstamp.  This item was illustrated in "The Postmarks of Great Britain and Ireland" by Alcock and Holland, published in 1940, as well as in Alan Robertson's book on Ship Letters.
