Footnotes: Haydar Hatemi (b. 1945) is an Iranian-Azari artist. He studied at Tabriz Art Academy and later at the Art Academy of Tehran, when he won the national award for designing the Takht-e-Tavus Medal for the International Cancer Society. Hatemi won first place in multiple competitions, and designed numerous public sculptures in Iran between 1972 and 1978. He designed the gold coins in commemoration of the 2500th anniversary of the Persian Empire. He moved to Turkey in 1983 and started to depict scenes of Istanbul in an 'orientalist' manner, commissioned by the royal family of Qatar.
