Tom C. Clark inscribed and autographed 4.5 x 3.25" Supreme Court of the United States card, dated July 4, 1969. The inscription reads, "Best wishes to Ralph Maxwell from Tom Clark."

Tom Campbell Clark (1899-1977) was an American lawyer, U.S. Attorney General, and Associate Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court. After serving as Attorney General under President Harry S. Truman, Clark was appointed to the Supreme Court by Truman in 1949. During his nearly 18 years on the Court, he authored significant opinions involving criminal procedure, national security, labor law, and constitutional rights. Clark retired from the Court in 1967 after his son, Ramsey Clark, became U.S. Attorney General, avoiding any appearance of a conflict of interest.
