Jimmy Carter (1924–2024) served as the 39th President of the United States from 1977 to 1981. Before entering national politics, he served as Governor of Georgia and as a U.S. Navy officer under Admiral Hyman G. Rickover. Following his presidency, Carter became one of the nation's most respected humanitarian figures through his work with The Carter Center, promoting democracy, public health, and conflict resolution worldwide. Awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2002, Carter was also a prolific author, publishing numerous works on politics, faith, history, and fiction.
