Miep Gies autographed United Nations First Day Cover commemorating the 15th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, signed in blue ink across the lower center. The ArtCraft cachet features Eleanor Roosevelt as Chair of the United Nations Human Rights Commission together with a United Nations 5-cent Human Rights commemorative stamp canceled in New York on December 10, 1963, the official first day of issue.

Miep Gies (1909-2010) was one of the Dutch citizens who helped hide Anne Frank, her family, and others from Nazi persecution during World War II. Following their arrest, Gies preserved Anne Frank's diary and papers, later returning them to Otto Frank, making possible the publication of *The Diary of a Young Girl*, one of the world's most influential accounts of the Holocaust.
