Details:
Jonas Salk, pioneering medical researcher and developer of the first successful polio vaccine, signed this first edition hardcover copy of Man Unfolding. His bold signature appears in blue ink on the front free endpaper.
Good condition overall. The first edition hardcover retains its original dust jacket, which exhibits moderate to heavy edge wear, creasing, rubbing, and several small chips and tears. The interior is clean overall with scattered light foxing and age toning to the endpapers. Salk's signature remains bold and attractive.
Published in 1972, Man Unfolding presents Salk's reflections on human evolution, creativity, ethics, and the future of civilization beyond his groundbreaking scientific achievements. Best known for developing the inactivated polio vaccine in the 1950s, Salk's work transformed public health worldwide and helped virtually eradicate one of the twentieth century's most feared diseases.
