Nash Jr. (1928-2015) was an American mathematician whose groundbreaking work in game theory, differential geometry, and partial differential equations transformed modern economics and mathematics. He was awarded the 1994 Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences for his pioneering work on non-cooperative games and was later the subject of the Academy Award-winning film *A Beautiful Mind*.
